Goethebunker Interview #18 – AnD

AnDs ausschließlich analog produzierter Output fand dabei seinen Platz auf vielen State of the Art Techno-Labels wie Horizontal Ground, Frozen Border, Black Sun Records, Sect, Idle Hands, Hidden Hawaii, Krill Music, Ann Aimee, Ear To Ground, Inner Surface Music und ihrem eigenen selbst-betitelten White-Label Imprint.

Hello guys, have you ever heard of the Goethebunker in Essen?

We have never been to Goethebunker but we have been aware of other people like Dj Pete, Perc, Shifted and Milton Bradley all playing there this year. We are looking forward to coming and experiencing the club and the crowd, it looks like a very unique space.

What projects are you currently working on?

We are currently working on a host of new projects some AnD and some more experimental material that will be coming up under new aliases that were really excited about but don’t want to let too much away about it at the minute.

Who or what inspires you?

We think when you are creative it’s impossible not to be influenced by everything around you. That can be the city you live in, the film you’ve just watched, a new record you’ve just bought. Sometimes it’s just a little idea you get from something simple that turns into a really complex pattern or an elaborate chain of thoughts.

Do you have all time favourites?

That can be a hard question to answer cause there are a lot of people that really inspire you musically and stick in your head for reasons unknowing to yourself, but it’s just that you unconsciously make a connection with them. But people like Aphex Twin, Mika Vainio, Ilpo Väisänen, LFO, Throbbing Gristle, Muslimgauze, Jeff Mills, Robert Hood, Mick Harris, Surgeon and Regis all never cease to amaze us. You can listen to their music over and over again and still find new elements or meaning in them everytime!

Tell us about the craziest situation in a club while playing.

The craziest situation we can think of was we once played in a club in liverpool at an after party and while playing our friends were giving us funny looks, looking pretty concerned and like come on, lets get out of here. So we thought why are they getting on like this?? It turned out that while we were playing in one room someone had been stabbed in the other room and the club was going into mayhem (little to our knowledge). So it was a bit of a weird end to a good night and also a situation you don’t really consider yourself to be in!

What is your favourite food and why?

We really like spicy food so it would have to be Indian food.

Thanks for the interview and see you on saturday.
